About Scootlanta

Mission

Scootlanta is Atlanta's largest scooter community primarily serving Atlanta and metro communities but also extending out to the southeastern US region.

Open to all clubs and non-affiliated riders of any year, make or model of scooter, Scootlanta promotes camaraderie and safe scootering in Atlanta.  There are no membership requirements to participate.  Scootlanta is not a club but rather a group of scooter enthusiasts and those with an interest in motor scootering.  The organization provides not only a social venue but the opportunity to share information between riders, technical experts, and others.
Scootlanta scooter riders own a wide variety of scooters, including vintage and new, two and four stroke, twist 'n go and shifters.  For more information, visit www.scootlanta.com.

History

In January 2002, Chris "Supergome" Schachte started the Scootlanta message board, and Kirk "Buzz Bomb" Tindell, made that first, now infamous post. Shortly thereafter, a few of the charter members of Scootlanta (namely Kirk, Chris, Kenyon, Hallie, Stan, and Cathy) began semi-regular Sunday afternoon meetings at a local bar called The Vortex. While these meetings were always enthusiastic, they were marred by low and haphazard attendance.

In May 2002, members of Motoretta Atlanta led by Christian "Cutlass" Cutler and Cameron Coltharp, joined the Scootlanta message board and formed The Imperial Scooter Club (ISC).  The members of ISC and other area scooterists held regular Scootlanta Wednesday night meetings of scooter riding, trivia playing, drunkenness, good-natured fighting, occasional nudity, and general jackassery.

In 2007, ISC broke away from Scootlanta.  Also that year, several scooter clubs emerged from the Scootlanta community including The Terminal SC, Monkey Knife Fight SC, and others. All of the members of these clubs and other non-affiliated riders and friends of riders form the umbrella organization known today as Scootlanta.

In 2009, Scootlanta held its first community rally "Resurgence" supported by members of local clubs.  Resurgence is a play on the Atlanta motto Resurgens meaning "Rising Again" and is a nod to the ISC "Deliverance" city rallies which faded out in 2007.

Socializing

While we may each have our personal preferences, we pride ourselves on our general lack of snobbery.  We ride different scooters. We have different jobs. We like different music. So what is the common link among us?  Scooters!

Weekly gatherings have been growing strong since 2002. We meet each Wednesday evening at 7:30.

Please check the Events section or the Scootlanta message board for more details on Scootlanta events, rides, and other activities. All scooterists with any type of scooter are welcome to participate at Scootlanta events.
